You can try using the disk version of the configuration program, to set the game to run in Direct Draw mode. Though the game engines are different, it has helped with startup crashes for Divinity 2 Developer's Cut.
#Divine divinity software or direct3d 64 Bit
You could try the 4GB Patch [to increase the amount of virtual memory that the game (or any 32 bit application) can access in 64 bit versions of Windows.

Try right clicking the executable, select Properties, switch to the Compatibility tab and check off the 'Override high DPI scaling behavior' option (set it to Application), maybe run as administrator and disable fullscreen optimization, and set a Win 7 or 8 compatibility mode.

Try exiting out of Steam, and starting the game directly from the '.\SteamApps\common\divine_divinity\div.exe' executable. check the information under the 'General' tab below the list of events, starting with "Faulting application name." in the center column, look for a recent error (maybe sort by Date and Time) for the game after starting the Event Viewer, expand 'Windows Logs' in the left column and select 'Application' in Windows 10, 'event' should bring up 'View event logs'. click Start (or WinKey-R), then type "event viewer" into the search box. If you check the Event Viewer, does that give an error code or 'Faulting Module' file name that might help identify the cause of the crash, assuming that is your issue? Try verifying local files: in the Steam library, right click on the game and select Properties, switch to the Local Files tab and then click on the 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache.' button. The text would be too small for me at that resolution anyway, so I never bothered to troubleshoot it.Īre you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game? On my Win 7 system it will crash at my monitor's native resolution (2560x1600), but anything less than that is fine. The game should run at higher resolutions.
